Waxwork Records partnered with composers Martin Cooper and David Hughes to locate the original 1984 master tapes, restore them, and mix and master the complete film music, creating the definitive, official release of the C.H.U.D. soundtrack.
Released in 1984, C.H.U.D. built a devoted cult following among B-movie horror fans and has become a persistent pop culture touchstone, referenced in The Simpsons, Archer, and Jordan Peele's Us. The film also served as an early platform for John Goodman, Daniel Stern, and John Heard. Cooper and Hughes's primitive electronic score captures the seedy, grim texture of early-80s NYC through synth drones, sound design, loops, and arpeggiated sequences.
This deluxe LP package features "Toxic Waste Splatter" colored vinyl, art by Ghoulish Gary Pullin, old-style tip-on gatefold jackets with matte satin coating, printed inner sleeves, and liner notes by the composers.
