A limited vinyl LP pressing of the Valley of the Dolls soundtrack, issued to mark the film's 50th Anniversary. Originally released in 1967, this Academy Award-winning score (Best Music, Scoring of Music - Adaptation or Treatment) remains one of Hollywood's most celebrated soundtracks of its era.
Based on Jacqueline Susann's bestselling 1966 novel, the film was directed by Mark Robson and stars Barbara Parkins, Patty Duke, Sharon Tate, and Susan Hayward. Dionne Warwick performed the iconic title track for the film, but contractual obligations with Scepter Records prevented her version from appearing on the official soundtrack album. Instead, her recording was released separately on Dionne Warwick in Valley of the Dolls. The film itself features two distinct versions of the theme, each with different lyrics, one over the opening credits and another later in the picture. Susann personally rewrote the lyrics, feeling the original Dory Previn lyric did not adequately set up the story.
An encapsulated copy ensures this piece of Hollywood history stays exactly as it left the pressing plant: sealed, protected, and displayable without ever risking the integrity of the vinyl itself.
