COLLECTOR GUIDE

Alliance Authentic preserved 30 individually numbered copies of Ariana Grande’s Petal as a deliberately small preservation run. These are not the only 30 copies of Petal in existence. There are 30 copies sourced and preserved under Alliance Authentic’s process, with each copy documented, numbered and Certified Uncirculated.
What “Limited” Should Really Mean
Most "limited edition" physical runs get sized by demand forecasting. However many they expect to sell, that’s the number. The word "limited" ends up describing a print run, not a position. There's no real story in being number 14,802 of 15,000.
Alliance Authentic keeps preservation runs small on purpose. Being one of 30 is different. It means a collector chose that record because it mattered to them and kept it preserved because it meant more than being just another number. In 50 years, these 30 will be the only copies preserved this way, each one held by a fan for whom this music actually mattered.
Why Alliance Authentic Created Only 30 Preserved Copies of Ariana Grande’s Petal
Four days after Ariana Grande released Petal, we shared 30 individually preserved, numbered copies. Not the only 30 copies of Petal in the world. Petal exists in whatever quantity got pressed and sold at retail. These 30 are a separate preservation: pulled before they reached a retailer, documented from that point forward, and Certified Uncirculated. That means we sourced each copy before it was out in the world and encapsulated it before it was sold or handled outside our process. Sealed and mint describe a record's condition, checked after the fact. Certified Uncirculated describes its custody, verified from the source.
Thirty copies.
The Meaning Behind Petal’s 30 Preserved Copies
Number 3 of 30 tells a real story about the fan who holds it. They connected with this record before most fans had a copy in their hands. They were paying attention. That story only works at 30. It doesn't work at 300. It definitely doesn't work at 30,000. The number is the story. Change the number, and you change what it means to hold one.
Each copy carries an NFC chip tied to its number and its full custody record. Tap the chip to see the record’s number and the date we preserved it. That proves this exact copy corresponds to its documented history. It doesn't grade the pressing quality or the music. It proves custody and authenticity, nothing else.
This isn't only about new releases. The record doesn't need to be new. It needs to be significant: a debut album that invented a genre, a moment in music a fan wants to hold onto in the most permanent way possible. The same logic applies whether the record came out this year or fifty years ago, and it applies to any label sitting on a release, an artifact, or a piece of catalog history that deserves this kind of treatment.
This preservation stops at 30. We don't preserve more of Petal based on how it sells. If a different piece of its story surfaces later—a different pressing, a different color variant worth preserving—that becomes its own decision, with its own number and its own certificate. It never folds into these 30.
All 30 numbered copies live on the Petal collection page, where collectors can see which numbers remain.
