U2 The Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Edition (1987-2017) marks three decades of one of rock's most celebrated albums. In April 1987, Time Magazine put U2 on its cover as "Rock's Hottest Ticket," capturing a band in the middle of a historic run: arena shows expanding into stadiums, a Grammy Award-winning music video filmed on a Los Angeles rooftop, a BRIT Award, and two Grammys including Album of the Year. It was the first of 22 the band would receive, making U2 the most awarded rock band in Grammy history. The original Joshua Tree Tour closed with four landmark shows in Belfast, Dublin, and Cork in the summer of 1987.
The Joshua Tree is one of the world's best-selling albums, with over 25 million copies sold and a diamond certification in the U.S. In 2014, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and selected for preservation in the U.S. National Recording Registry, deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress.
