Alliance Authentic is about to debut its first autographed collection, and the signature belongs to none other than musician Danny Elfman.

The composer behind Beetlejuice, The Simpsons, and The Nightmare Before Christmas signed six pieces exclusively for the brand, each one encapsulated, NFC secured, and tied to a Certified Copy record documenting the exact moment he signed it. It's a new direction for a brand built on preserving vinyl before it ever reaches a store shelf, and it lands in the one week of the year that fits Elfman's catalog best.

Who Danny Elfman Is, and Why Collectors Already Know Him

It's A Dead Man's Party, Who Could Ask For More?

Elfman's story starts on the street, not on a soundstage. His brother Richard Elfman founded the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, a Los Angeles street theater troupe, in the early 1970s. Danny joined in 1974, and by 1979 he had reshaped the group into a rock band, Oingo Boingo, fronting it on lead vocals and rhythm guitar through 1995. The band mixed new wave, ska, and art rock into something nobody else on the Sunset Strip sounded like, and it gave Elfman the ear for melody and mischief that would define his film work.

That film work started in 1985, when Tim Burton invited him to score Pee-wee's Big Adventure. It became the first of a partnership that has now run four decades, through Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, where Elfman wrote the score and ten songs and sang the role of Jack Skellington himself.

In between Burton films, he wrote the vocal hook that still opens The Simpsons every week, scored four Men in Black films and both Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, and built his own theme from Batman into 2017's Justice League. He has four Academy Award nominations and more than 100 film scores to his name. In 2022 he teamed with Burton again, composing the theme for Netflix's Wednesday.

Inside the Collection

Alliance Authentic worked with Elfman to sign six pieces spanning nearly forty years of his career, each limited to just 5 individually numbered copies with one exception noted below.

The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack arrives on a 2xLP transparent yellow and purple pressing, signed by the man who wrote it, sang it, and gave Jack Skellington his voice.

Beetlejuice marks the soundtrack that opened the Burton and Elfman partnership to the world, featuring Harry Belafonte's "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" and "Jump in the Line (Shake, Shake Senora)" alongside Elfman's score.

The Simpsons Main Title Theme comes pressed on a donut shaped, die cut 10 inch picture disc, a playful format for the theme Elfman still earns residuals on every time it airs.

Justice League is presented as the Limited Cyborg Edition on silver double vinyl, a 2018 WaterTower Music pressing originally capped at 500 copies worldwide, now signed in a run of 5.

Wednesday arrives on a purple smoke double LP, the Netflix series soundtrack Elfman composed with Chris Bacon, and one more chapter in his ongoing work with Burton, who directed the show's first four episodes.

The sixth piece, a Jack Skellington #574 knit style figure made with Handmade by Robots, was signed by Elfman in a run of just 5.

Why This Launch Lands at Halloween

The timing is not a coincidence. Elfman has treated Halloween as something closer to a second birthday for most of his career. Oingo Boingo closed out its 17 years together with a farewell concert at the Universal Amphitheatre on Halloween night in 1995, and Elfman has returned to the holiday again and again since, performing the music of Tim Burton's films at the Hollywood Bowl around Halloween in the years that followed. The Nightmare Before Christmas itself occupies the same strange seasonal middle ground, claimed by Halloween as much as by Christmas. In other words, it just felt right!

What This Means for Collectors

This is Alliance Authentic's first time extending its Certified Copy model, built for preserving unopened vinyl before retail, to a living artist's signature. Each piece carries the same NFC chip and documentation the brand uses on its pressed records, now paired with video of Elfman signing that exact copy.

Collectors who want to see these pieces in person, rather than buy sight unseen, can find them on display at L.A. Comic Con, October 30 to November 1 at the LA Convention Center, booth #1354.

The full collection, including current availability, is up now at Alliance Authentic.
