The Superbad soundtrack captures the spirit of one of the funniest comedies of the 2000s. The film follows two socially awkward high school seniors, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), on a chaotic mission to score alcohol for a party and survive the last night before their lives go separate ways. Written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, produced by Judd Apatow, and directed by Greg Mottola, Superbad became a defining film of its era.
Released August 7, 2007 on Lakeshore Records, the album pairs original compositions by Lyle Workman with classic funk and soul. Workman's original score features a reunion of the original JBs rhythm section alongside Bootsy Collins, Phelps Collins, Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks, and Bernie Worrell. The licensed tracks include cuts from Curtis Mayfield, Rick James, The Bar-Kays, and The Roots.
