Originally released alongside a multimedia project spanning a novel, comic book, and video game, the score was composed to accompany the full Shadows of the Empire story. In the game, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, players control mercenary Dash Rendar as he aids Luke Skywalker and works to rescue Princess Leia from Prince Xizor. Based on the novel by Steve Perry, the LucasArts title launched on Nintendo 64 on December 3, 1996, sold one million copies in its first year, and was followed by a Windows version in 1997.

For collectors, an encapsulated copy offers permanent protection for a historically significant first pressing, preserving it exactly as it left the source for decades to come. For Star Wars fans, this is the chance to own an encapsulated version of a very deep cut from the Star Wars Legends universe, unless Dave Filoni brings Prince Xizor back...
