Released on February 14, 1972, Harvest is Neil Young's fourth studio album and one of the most significant records in the history of rock and folk music. It topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks, spawned the #1 single "Heart of Gold" and the Top 40 hit "Old Man," and became the best-selling album in the United States for 1972. The London Symphony Orchestra appears on two tracks, with guest vocals from David Crosby, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Stills, and James Taylor.
Young, a founding member of Buffalo Springfield and longtime collaborator with Crazy Horse and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1982. Beyond his musical legacy, he co-founded Farm Aid in 1985 and has hosted the annual Bridge School Benefit Concert since 1986, donating all proceeds to support children with severe physical and communication disabilities.
For collectors, an encapsulated copy of Harvest offers something an open copy never can: the record exactly as it left the pressing plant, sealed against the wear, handling, and environmental exposure that inevitably alter unprotected vinyl over time. This is the album in its original, untouched state.
